EARL GREELY MEMORIAL LIBRARY

Earl Greely Memorial Library

The Earl Greely Memorial Library, housed at OutReach, is one of the largest and most extensive LGBT libraries in the Midwest.

The library honors the late Earl Greely, a much beloved long-time Madison community resident & poet who was killed in a hate crime in northern Wisconsin in 1984.

Our fiction collection has novels, short stories, an poetry from a variety of authors. We have mysteries, romances, science fiction and erotica.

The non-fiction collection covers a wide range of LGBT topics and issues. There is material about the people and events that have shaped and are shaping the LGBT movement. There are books on spirituality, health, HIV/AIDS, psychology, and coming out. Our transgender collection covers transitioning, SRS, coming out and appearance.

We have books dealing with LGBT relationships, LGBT familes, and LGBT youth. Our juvenile and young adult section has material about coming of age, coping with school issues, LGBT parents or family members, and coming out.

The library also carries some LGBT magazines and newspapers (available for in-house reading only).

This a free lending library. Books may be borrowed for one month. Library users must fill out an application to be eligible to borrow books. All information provided is confidential and will not be shared.
